Where is the Quarterback Battle?

No one expected there to be a quarterback battle, but by all accounts, Drew Pyne is pushing Jack Coan as much as he possibly could. This will make it mildly interesting to see both who comes out for the very first series, as well as which quarterback plays better throughout the course of the game.

Drew Pyne has all the potential in the world and became largely forgotten behind Ian Book and with the incoming excitement of Coan and Freshman Tyler Buchner. After all, it made perfect sense that Coan would play one year while Buchner took a redshirt and adjusted to the speed of the game, almost acting as a bridge between Book and Buchner.

Except, former four-star prospect Drew Pyne isn’t taking it lying down. He’s putting up a battle for the job, while by all accounts Buchner needs a lot of time to catch up to speed. Though, Buchner lost playing his senior year of high school and is now going against one of the best defenses in all of college football. Some growing pains are to be expected and Buchner is still going to be interesting to watch.

The battle between Pyne and Coan, however, is going to be interesting, particularly if Pyne looks better than Coan because Coan is still the presumed starter.
