Notre Dame Football: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah talks 2021 Draft
By Brad Weiss
Notre Dame Football star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah went on the Jim Rome Show to discuss his experience in the 2021 NFL Draft.
During his time with the Notre Dame Football program, linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah established himself as one of the best defensive players in college football. An All-American, and ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, JOK also won the Butkus Award, as he helped the Irish to an undefeated regular season.
Incredibly, though he was in nearly every mock draft in the first round, JOK fell on Thursday night, and it was something that nobody saw coming. Recently, he sat down and spoke with Jim Rome, discussing his draft experience, and what happened with the “heart issue” that caused him to plummet in the draft.
He was very candid about the entire situation, and we decided to let our readers hear the entire interview, courtesy of The Jim Rome Show.
Notre Dame Football star falls to No. 52
Obviously, any kind of medical issue is enough for prospects to drop, but on draft night, JOK falling out of the first round was an absolute shock. In fact, as the second round started, the experts felt he was the best player available, so you can see why it would continue to be shocking as he did not come off the board.
Finally, the Cleveland Browns came calling at No. 52 overall, and the entire fan base of Notre Dame Football was able to take sign a relief. JOK was the third member of the Irish off the board, as Liam Eichenberg went No. 42 overall to Miami, and Aaron Banks went at No. 48 overall to San Francisco, another shocking turn of events.
Truth be told, the Browns got an absolute steal in JOK, who is going to be a dominant defensive player in this league right away. Owusu-Koramoah may have felt to No. 52, but he is a top-10 talent and could be one of the final pieces of the puzzle for this Browns team in their quest to go deep into the NFL playoffs.
