The Notre Dame Football team takes on Florida State on the road to kick off their 2021 slate, and it is considered one of the best matchups of Week 1.

Coming off another appearance in the College Football Playoff, the Notre Dame Football team has a lot of question marks on their roster. The program saw nine players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, including some All-Americans, and their starting quarterback, so needless to say, this is a very important summer coming up.

As we look towards the 2021 college football season, the Irish have a tough road ahead, and it starts with their Week 1 matchup against Florida State. The Irish will take on the Seminoles on the road in primetime in Week 1, making for an intriguing matchup, and one that 247Sports feels is one of the best of the opening weekend.

Notre Dame Football travels to Tallahassee

It will be the first primetime opener for the Florida State Seminoles in three years, and they are a program looking to rebound after falling on some hard times. This is a solid rivalry game for both teams, and it will be the first chance Irish fans get to see if Jack Coan can take over for Ian Book under center.

The Irish also return two elite weapons on offense in Kyren Williams and Michael Mayer, while the defense is loaded with veteran talent. Marcus Freeman, the team’s new defensive coordinator, has a lot of key players on that side of the ball, including safety Kyle Hamilton, who is one of the better defensive backs in college football.

Overall, this is going to be an exciting matchup, and the fact that it is in prime time is only going to bring more drama. Notre Dame Football is looking to continue to bridge the gap between them and the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson, and beating up on Florida State in Week 1 is a good way to show that the team is going to continue to move in that direction.
