Notre Dame Football has an unquestioned leader on defense in Drew White, who will play his way into being a 2022 NFL Draft pick this Fall.

When it comes to the 2021 Notre Dame Football team, we have spoken a lot about all the players that are leaving, and all the talent the Irish will lose. However, we need to start talking about all the players returning, and all the talent they still have, as there is a lot of it.

On offense, the offensive line will have to be revamped, but there is elite talent remaining in South Bend. The Irish have elite players at tight end and running back, and there are some exciting playmakers at wide receiver.

Also, Jack Coan is no slouch, leading the Wisconsin Badgers to a Big Ten title game two years ago, so while the loss of Ian Book is going to hurt, the Irish are turning to a veteran.

On defense, there is veteran talent on all three levels, including at linebacker, which is the specialty for new defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. The man in the middle of the linebacker group is Drew White, an exciting player who will play his way to being a draft pick next April.

During the 2020 college football season, fellow linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah got most of the national attention, becoming an All-American, and helping the Irish to an undefeated regular season. However, even JOK will tell you what an incredible player White is, and in 2021, he takes over as the face of the linebacker group.

A talent on and off the field, White wrapped up his academic career this past weekend, once again showing his incredible talents. All White did in the classroom was dominated as well, as shown by the Tweet he had after the Irish graduated this past Sunday.

All told, White is certainly going to benefit from having Freeman as his defensive coordinator, as he will not only get the best out of him but prepare him for the next level. There are question marks on offense, but the defense has a lot of veteran talent, and White is going to be the leader in the middle.
