The Notre Dame Football team is hosting some elite talent over the next couple of days, setting the stage for an incredible 2022 recruiting class.

The Notre Dame Football program has been to two of the last three College Football Playoffs, and for most programs, that would be a crowning achievement. However, the Irish also have not shown out well in those opportunities, looking overmatched when playing some of the elite teams in college football.

In 2021, the Irish have a lot of holes to fill, as 14 members of the 2020 team have since gone on to play in the NFL. While this upcoming season has some question marks, one thing is for certain, the program is moving in the right direction thanks to some elite recruiting by Brian Kelly and his staff.

While looking ahead, the Irish already have the No. 3-ranked 2022 recruiting class according to Rivals, but they are not stopping there. The Irish will host a ton of talent over the next few days, and based on the early returns, they are doing a phenomenal job making these recruits feel like South Bend is the place to be.

Devin Moore, a three-star safety from Naples, Florida had this to say after his visit:

Four-star linebacker Niuafe Junior Tuihalamaka took to Twitter after his visit as well. He would be a perfect addition to this program, working under a linebacker genius in Marcus Freeman.

And how about four-star running back Dallan Hayden.

Overall, these kids are getting on campus and interacting with the best of the best, including defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, who may be the best recruiting assistant coach in the country.

Notre Dame Football headed in the right direction

Even though the Irish have consistently won ten games a season, there is a lot of talk about them bridging the gap between them and the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson. Based on what we are seeing in recruiting, that gap has to be getting narrower, as the Irish are bringing in kids from all over the country, and making them feel at home.

If they can continue to recruit high-level prospects, and actually start winning some games on the national stage, you cannot match the blend of athletics and academics that Notre Dame can offer.

The bottom line is, the Irish already have commitments from some elite talent, and with how well these official visits are going, this has the potential to be an elite recruiting class. Bringing in Freeman was a stroke of genius for Kelly and this program, and the Irish are reaping the benefits big time in Year 1.
