Notre Dame Football 2021 Opponent Preview: Purdue Boilermakers

Bottom Line on the Boilermakers

Purdue is a difficult to asses team. At a glance, they’re a program who hasn’t and probably can’t win games consistently. When you dive in, there’s potential though. This is an offense capable of putting up points. In particular, through the passing game.

That’s how Brohm wants his team built, as an offensively strong team that relies on great quarterback play. The defense has a lot of work to do, though. Purdue is making a push here with the coordinator change, but that may not be enough in the short term.

The odds are that Purdue is still sitting at the bottom of the B1G 10, but they have the potential to beat anyone and push for a bowl game.

Way Too Early Prediction

Notre Dame can dominate this game at the line of scrimmage, which means that they can dominate time of possession and demoralize Purdue physically. If Braden Lenzy and the wide receivers can get going, there is a good chance that Notre Dame runs Purdue out of the building. Defensively, Notre Dame will rely on Kyle Hamilton to have a big game, stopping the passing attack and crashing when he sees run.
