Notre Dame Football: Jaylen Sneed would take 2022 class to next level
By Brad Weiss
Jaylen Sneed is one of the better defensive players in the country, and if the Notre Dame Football program can land him, the 2022 class goes to the next level
Jaylen Sneed is as dominant as they come in terms of the linebacker spot for the 2022 recruiting class and is fresh off his visit with the Notre Dame Football program. Sneed visited the Irish from June 14 through June 16, as the program looked to give him a feel of what it would be like to put on the blue and gold.
Rated the eighth-best linebacker and 70th prospect in the country by Rivals, Sneed is a guy who can come in and be an instant impact player. He has incredible size, speed, and power, and is going to come in and play both outside linebacker, and come off the edge at the next level.
We have already seen some incredible talent land with the Irish in 2022, including a star quarterback in Steve Angeli, who has been doing some recruiting of his own. Sneed is one of the better defensive players in the country, and South Bend would give him the chance to learn under one of the great linebacker minds in the sport in Marcus Freeman.
Notre Dame Football looking to close the gap
The big key for the Irish this offseason, and looking ahead, is to start bridging the gap between them, and the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson. While Notre Dame has played on the national stage recently, making two of the last three College Football Playoffs, nobody has really given them a chance to make noise.
In fact, the pundits have been right, as the Irish have struggled in big games, and that is something where Brian Kelly needs to change the narrative. Players like Sneed can choose any school they want, but it seems as if the Irish did everything they could to land such an elite linebacker for the 2022 class.
The 2022 class is already one of the best in the country, and the Irish are still recruiting like crazy to improve, and possibly land the best class at the FBS level. Sneed is an elite prospect who could end up being a first-round pick, and under Freeman, he would have the best chance to reach his potential.
