Notre Dame Football: 4 biggest concerns against FSU in the opener right now

New QB in 2021

The most important position in all sports is the quarterback position in football, and for the last three years, Ian Book has served as the starting quarterback for the Irish. Leading the program to two College Football Playoffs, Book punched his ticket to the NFL, and it will be up to Brian Kelly and his staff to find his successor.

There is not a lack of options in South Bend, as Jack Coan was brought in as a graduate transfer, Drew Pyne returns, and Tyler Buchner has arrived as a true freshman. However, as it stands, there is no clear starter, which is a bit concerning considering it is almost July, and only two months are remaining till the regular season kicks off.

The odds are, Coan is going to get the first crack at starting, and based on what we saw during his time at Wisconsin, that is a good thing. However, if the Irish do not have a clear plan for the position group as we inch closer to September, then they will go into the Florida State game with a question mark at quarterback, which is the worst position to be in.
