Notre Dame Football: Realistic expectations for Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
By Brad Weiss
Notre Dame Football program lost a star in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, and here are his realistic expectations in 2021 as a rookie for the Cleveland Browns.
Looking back at the 2020 Notre Dame football team, one name that stood out above all others on defense was Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. A punishing linebacker who worked his way up to being an All-American, JOK was the leader on that side of the ball, and someone who will be sorely missed in 2021.
After setting expectations for quarterback Ian Book in a recent piece, and what he could do as a rookie in 2021, we turn our focus to JOK. A second-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, JOK is going to prove to be a steal for Cleveland and could end up being one of the best rookies to come out of this class.
Notre Dame Football star a potential ROY candidate
Going into his rookie season, JOK is going to get every opportunity to land a starting job, and the defense as a whole for Cleveland has the talent to be very good. He will be able to roam around and make plays happen, and as we saw during his time at Notre Dame, he is not only a sure tackler, but he is also a playmaker, as well as being outstanding in coverage.
I could definitely see him nabbing a few interceptions, racking up a bunch of tackles, and showing his coverage prowess against some of the best tight ends in the NFL. Cleveland plays a tough schedule, but is one of the favorites in the AFC to do some damage, and could be one of the last teams standing.
This is going to be a special year for both JOK and the Cleveland Browns, as I believe he will play a key role in them possibly getting to an AFC title game. Though he ended up being selected in the second round, this is a high-first round talent, and he is going to prove that weekly as a rookie in 2021
When all is said and done, I like JOK to not only be in contention for the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year but actually win it. He is going to impact the game in so many ways, and in a tough AFC North, he could be the missing piece for this Browns defense to get them over the hump in the playoffs.
