The Notre Dame football team has a dynamic player in Chris Tyree, and in 2021, he will step into an even bigger role for the Irish.

Chris Tyree was a four-star (borderline five-star) prospect from Chester, Virginia, and a member of the 2020 recruiting class for Notre Dame Football. His blazing speed made him one of the most anticipated players in the class, and Irish fans were eager to see him on the field in a Notre Dame uniform.

Because of the physical nature of the position, it is rare to see a true freshman running back earn significant playing time on a quality college football team. However, that is exactly what Tyree did last season, becoming a player who could give the Irish a big spark at any time.

Tyree quickly ascended on the depth chart during summer practices and became Notre Dame’s second-string running back. During the 2020 season, he ran for 496 yards and four touchdowns on 73 carries. He also caught eight passes for 65 yards.

Junior Kyren Williams is expected to once again be the starting running back for the Irish this season. However, that does not mean Chris Tyree’s role in the offense will stay the same. In fact, I think his workload will increase substantially in 2021.
