Notre Dame football is building a strong 2022 recruiting class, and we sat down with Tyson Ford, a cornerstone commit to discuss his visit and more.
Notre Dame football is changing the game when it comes to recruiting recently, especially when it comes to the defensive side of the ball. Recently, I met with four-star Notre Dame football commit Tyson Ford from John Burroughs School in St Louis, Missouri, an athlete poised for a breakout senior season and a breakout at the next level.
Below we talk about the impact he will bring to Notre Dame football, his first official visit, and more so let’s get to it.

The Visit
Sean Smith (SlaptheSign): How was your first official visit to Notre Dame?
"Tyson Ford: “I really enjoyed it. I mean, when I first got there, they had the room all set up with a whole bunch of snacks and balloon, and then my first day they picked us up, took us all to breakfast, had the tour of the school. It was really great to see, you know, the first place we toured was the hall with all the different award winners that they’ve had. The Butkus award and The Heisman trophy winners. Then we had pretty broad presentations about the culture of the school, and we had a team branding meeting. Coach Kelly had talked to Jalen [Sneed] and I. So, it was really great because all around the campus is beautiful. I’m just excited to be here.”"
Smith: What was your favorite moment you would say of the visit?
"Ford: “Definitely, meeting with Coach Kelly meeting with him just felt surreal because, you know, you only see these coaches on TV and then you finally get to see them in person. Then just knowing that I’m going to be up here and I’m going to actually get to know him, not just as a coach, but as a man. It was pretty exciting. So, I was really happy to see him.”"
Smith: “Meeting Coach Kelly is definitely surreal. Meeting arguably a top-five college football coach and one of the best Notre Dame’s ever had. So, it’s definitely a surreal moment, I’m sure.”
