The Notre Dame football program has some talented players at quarterback, and we preview the position group heading into the 2021 season.

Across the past three seasons, the Notre Dame football program has been lucky to have Ian Book as their starting quarterback. Ending his collegiate career as the all-time winningest quarterback in program history, Book parlayed his solid career to be a fourth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints, and will now fight to advance up that depth chart.

In Book, the Irish had a playmaker who could not only make plays with his arm, but also his legs, and that ability extended drives time and time again. Sure, there were plenty of frustrating moments with Book under center, but the fact is, he led this program to more wins than any other quarterback in history, as well as two of the last three College Football Playoffs.

As he begins his NFL journey, the Irish will now be placed in the hands of a new signal-caller, and it could be anyone from a true freshman who did not play his senior year, to a graduate transfer who had a ton of success in the Big Ten. Either way, Kelly is turning the page on the quarterback spot, which is never easy to do, especially when the previous quarterback had so much success.

With Book gone, Brian Kelly and his staff will now look to a new signal-caller to lead the way in 2021.
