The Notre Dame football team will have to navigate a tough schedule but are projected to land in a New Year’s Six Bowl this season.

The 2021 Notre Dame football team will kick off their slate on the road, taking on Florida State in a tough matchup on Sunday night. For the Irish, they will be looking to keep the good times rolling, as they have been to two of the last three College Football Playoffs, and have enough talent coming back to make another run.

Looking at recent polls and bowl game predictions, some feel the Irish could be headed back to the CFP, while others feel it could be a down year in South Bend. Whatever the case may be, the truth is, the Irish have a lot of work to do this summer before their matchup against the Seminoles, including replacing All-American talent on both sides of the ball.

Still, it is fun to see where the team is projected, and a recent bowl game prediction had the Irish going to a New Year’s Six Bowl game.

Notre Dame football projected to take on LSU

Recently, CollegeFootballNews.com put together a prediction of all the bowl games for the upcoming season. For the Irish, they fell short of the College Football Playoff in these predictions, but they did make it to a New Year’s Six Bowl Game, taking on the LSU Tigers.

The matchup will take place in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl, which is slated to be played inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Last season, the Tigers took a major step back, as they lost quarterback Joe Burrow to the NFL Draft, and saw star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase sit out due to the pandemic.

That led to the team finishing up 5-5, but they have reloaded with talent, and figure to be a much-improved team this upcoming season.

Playing in a New Year’s Six Bowl Game is an honor in itself, and if the Irish are one year away from being one of the top four once again, this would end up being a solid matchup for the program. Who knows how the season will shake out, but if they are playing in one of these prestigious bowl games, more things went right than they did go wrong.
