Notre Dame football: 3 home games Irish fans won’t want to miss in 2021

No. 1: USC Trojans

The 2020 college football season was strange in so many ways, as the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc, and forced Notre Dame to play a conference schedule within the ACC. What that meant was that the Irish would not play USC for the first time since 1945, a year that closed a three-year stretch where the teams did not play due to World War II.

Since then, this has been a yearly matchup, one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports, and must-see television. In 2021, they start the tradition right back up, and the first matchup will take place inside Notre Dame Stadium, which is a game no fan is going to want to miss.

To make matters even better for the Irish, they will be coming off their bye week, which will give them two weeks to prepare for Kedon Slovis, regarded as a first-round talent at the quarterback position. The following week, the Irish host Sam Howell, the presumed No. 1 overall quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, so this will kick off a two-week stretch of major importance for the Irish’s CFP hopes.

These are not only huge games for the Irish, but they have some incredible storylines, and it will be nice to get back together inside Notre Dame Stadium. Despite what the national media says, this is an Irish team that could surprise some people in 2021, and taking care of business at home will be paramount for a winning season.
