Potential Depth Chart

Looking ahead, there is good reason to believe that the veteran talent on this roster is going to start, especially with Brian Kelly’s track record at the position group. However, this was a very exciting recruiting class in terms of the wide receiver spot, so by the end of the season, we could be seeing them more on the field than not.

Also, most of the veteran guys who are returning have had to battle through injuries during their collegiate careers, so there is also the possibility that one of them goes down in 2021. If that happens, at least the Irish have some incredible talent at all three spots and should be able to turn to a next-man-up mentality.

Look for the returning guys to take the lead to start the season, as Kelly is going to rely on them, especially as he makes the move from Book to Jack Coan at quarterback. However, we have already seen how dynamic some of these young guys could be, and after seeing true freshman Chris Tyree get put in a position to succeed in 2020, the same could be said for some of these young wideouts in 2021.

With that said, here is what the depth chart could look like vs. Florida State:

  • W- Austin Jr., Watts, Colzie, Wilkins Sr.
  • Z- Davis, Keys III
  • X- Lenzy, Styles Jr., Thomas
