5 Notre Dame football players with the most to prove in 2021

No. 3: Isaiah Foskey

We stated earlier this week that Isaiah Foskey would need to have a Myjai Sanders-like season in 2021 for this Irish defense, becoming an absolute menace off the edge. In Foskey, new defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman has a physical specimen to play the Vyper position, and most feel he is in for a monster season for the Irish.

For Foskey to get to the point where he can be a leader on this defense, he has to prove to Freeman that he can take on a vital role in 2021. From what we have seen from him so far, he is someone who can live in the backfield, and some talent evaluators feel he could end up being an elite edge rusher in college football this season.

With Ade Ogundeji and Daelin Hayes gone, as well as Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, the Irish have some big holes to fill in terms of the pass rush this season. In terms of physical talent, Foskey has everything you look for in an elite player coming off the edge, and the hope is that he is ready to take the jump into stardom this fall.
