Notre Dame football: Ranking the Irish’s 2021 schedule by entertainment value

The Notre Dame football team has some tough games on the slate in 2021, and we rank them by how entertaining they will be here.

Notre Dame football in 2021 has plenty of question marks. Just how good are they going to be, and which games pose potential threats? Are ten wins enough to consider a season successful anymore? This list goes on.

However, one thing that we all know is that there are going to be plenty of great and exciting games throughout the season, and here they are ranked in order from least exciting to most exciting.

To an extent, this is going to be a subjective list. That’s just how these things are, as we all have our own biases and preconceived notions in the world of college football. However, four basic criteria matter the most on this list.

The first thing to look at is whether or not the game is a rivalry.  This should be obvious enough. After all, rivalries are inherently more important and exciting. The next thing to think about is just how competitive the game should be. A mismatch is going to be less exciting, for obvious reasons.

Then, and this is a predictive measure at this point, you have to ask how important a game is going to be on Notre Dame’s season overall. An early-season matchup with a weak opponent means a lot less than a late-season game against even an average one. Finally, from a tangible point of view, just how exciting are the storylines surrounding the game, as they always add another layer to the game itself.
