Notre Dame football: 4 Reasons why Kyren Williams will win the Maxwell Award

Notre Dame Has Great Visibility

One thing that a lot of players on the Maxwell watch list don’t have, and can’t have, is high-end visibility. They play at a Group of Five school that isn’t on prime time, or even behind a paywall. Besides that, there is a good chance that those at lower-level programs aren’t playing high enough level competition to garner as much consideration as other players might.

Kyren Williams isn’t going to be lacking for any of that at Notre Dame.

The Irish play on national TV every single week. Oftentimes, they’ll also be a game of the week or prime time-slotted team. That’s because of the size of the fanbase and its long history of success. People care more about Notre Dame than they do the average school. More media is surrounding Notre Dame than other programs.

So, it’s clear that there is going to be plenty of attention on Williams’ season.

Add to that, Williams is going to be playing a difficult schedule. This means he’ll have opportunities to impress against top-tier opponents. A big game against USC or a game-winning touchdown against Wisconsin, and he’ll be firmly cemented into the public consciousness.
