Notre Dame football: 4 Reasons why Kyren Williams will win the Maxwell Award

The Offense Runs Through Kyren Williams

The greatness of Williams is that he can do anything Tommy Rees and the coaching staff ask of him. Of course, with questions at wide receiver, this means that he’s being disproportionately asked to do more than he normally would. He’s expected to carry the load of the offense’s production.

As far as winning postseason awards goes, this is a great thing for Williams. As far as establishing a balanced offense goes, this isn’t a good thing. But, this is about his ability to win an award. So, by taking on the majority of the touches in the offense, Williams becomes the highlight act to watch.

This will also give him more opportunity to show off his varied skillset, and make sure that everyone watching Notre Dame knows he’s the best player on the field. Like last season, when Alabama’s Davonta Smith, there was concern that he, Najee Harris, and Mac Jones would split votes from one another, because who is to say who was the most important player in the group? Well, that is a reality that can impact award season.

However, with several question marks, there is no reason to expect any vote-splitting on the Notre Dame offense. It should just be the Kyren Williams show all day long.
