Notre Dame football: 4 Reasons Kyle Hamilton will win the Bednarik Award
Hamilton is the Best Safety in the Country
Do you remember week 1 of the 2019 season? Kyle Hamilton does, because that was the first time he ever blitzed in a game. In other words, he’s always had insane potential, but it’s often been a raw talent that he’s existed on.
Now, with years of development, Hamilton is the undisputed best safety in the country.
He can do anything on the field. Crashing down on the run, tackling crossing receivers, cover 2, cover 1, man coverage on the outside or in the slot. It doesn’t matter, and he’s so fast that just by being there, Hamilton erases huge chunks of the field. In a world of the modern RPO, he can stop it single handedly.
You can argue that Derek Stingley is a better coverage corner, but Hamilton is the better all-around player. There are no safeties who come close. Now, all Hamilton has to do is go out and prove that. If he does that, then there is a good chance he can win the Bednarik Award.
