The Notre Dame football team could see a few players taken in round one next year, but one star sits comfortably in round two in the latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

The Notre Dame football team has not had a player drafted in the first round in two years, although they saw three members of the 2020 team taken in the second round in 2021. In 2022, that is certain to change, as they have a legitimate top-5 prospect in Kyle Hamilton, but one other star is starting to rocket up draft boards.

In the latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft by Pro Football Network, Notre Dame star running back Kyren Williams finds himself selected in the second round by the Arizona Cardinals. In the No. 45 overall selection, Williams would have a perfect landing spot in Arizona, as they run an offense that likes backs who can catch the ball, and do not have a legitimate feature back right now.

The writer, Cam Mellor, discussed that with Jack Coan relying on his running backs so much, Williams should see an increase in catches, and would be a three-down back for the young Kyler Murray in the desert. Mellor is spot on with his assessment, as Williams is not only a tremendous runner, but a pass catcher as well, and is also outstanding in terms of blocking.

He could be one of the first running backs off the board next April.

Notre Dame football star goes No. 6 overall

Not surprisingly, star safety Kyle Hamilton was the only Notre Dame football player to go in the first round in this mock draft, landing at No. 6 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly would be a nice landing spot for Hamilton as well, as they certainly need help in their defensive backfield, but at this point, it would shock me if he fell out of the top-5 in 2022.

Both of these players are going to be crucial if the Irish want to return to the College Football Playoff this upcoming season. For Williams, another 1,000-yard season should be on the horizon, before possibly leaving the school for the NFL, and giving the starting job to Chris Tyree for the 2022 college football season.
