Notre Dame football: One question for each offensive position in 2021

Running Back: Who will be the third RB on the depth chart?

One of the better situations for this Notre Dame offense comes at the running back spot, where the Irish could have one of the better duos in the country this season. The combination of Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree should strike fear in the hearts of defenses all season long, with Williams being both a Maxwell and Doak Walker Award Watch List nominee.

In Tyree, the Irish have the ultimate No. 2 running back, as he showed during his true freshman season last year that he can take it to the house at any time. There is no doubt that these will be the two atop the depth chart entering the Florida State game as long as they stay healthy, but who will Brian Kelly lean on in the RB3 role in 2021.

The Irish have C’Bo Flemister returning, and he has proven to be a solid back, but he is also someone who could certainly be passed on the depth chart this summer. Notre Dame brought in two elite true freshmen in Audric Estime and Logan Diggs in this recruiting cycle, and they are good enough to pass up Flemister before all is said and done.

  • Early answer: Audric Estime
