Notre Dame football: Which quarterback has the most to prove in 2021?

Who has the most to prove?

While Coan certainly has a lot to prove this summer, as the program is hoping that he can come in and win games right away, he is not the only one with the most to prove. In fact, the player with the most to prove could be a guy who may not win the starting job but is someone who could have a long-term effect on this program moving forward.

That player is Tyler Buchner, who is entering the program this year as a true freshman, and someone who did not play last season due to COVID-19 rules in the state of California. Buchner will not only have to prove he can play at the collegiate level, but that he is the answer moving forward, due to the fact Drew Pyne is only a true sophomore, and Steve Angeli is coming in next year.

From what we saw at the spring game, Buchner has the talent to be an excellent player at the next level, but this summer and his true freshmen season will determine what the position could look like for the next four years.

Whoever ends up being the starter in South Bend this season has a lot to prove, and those who do not, need to prove they could be the answer moving forward. Overall, this is going to be one of those position groups we keep an eye on all summer long, and it will be interesting to see who is under center against Florida State on September 5.

In the end, Buchner has the most to prove this summer and going forward.
