Notre Dame football: Which running back has the most to prove in 2021?

Who has the most to prove?

While Williams has a lot to prove this season in terms of whether he can be one of the first running backs off the board in the 2022 NFL Draft, he is not the Irish running back with the most to prove in terms of the program. In fact, it is his backup who has the most to prove in 2021, as Chris Tyree must show that he deserves to be the next man in line in terms of leading the depth chart in 2022.

One of the top running backs coming in with the 2022 recruiting class is Jadarian Price, a four-star recruit from the state of Texas. In addition, the Irish brought in two true freshmen who could have an impact in Year 1 in Audric Estime and Logan Diggs. Both players bring different skill sets to the table, and Estime could be a player who has All-American talent down the line.

The truth is, Tyree is a special talent and one who has the ability to take the ball to the house every time he touches the ball. Notre Dame is going to find a way to work him into the offense in an even bigger role this upcoming season, and if Williams leaves, he should be next in line to be the feature back for the Irish in 2022 if he can prove he can handle the load.
