Notre Dame football: Which wide receiver has the most to prove in 2021?

The Case for Avery Davis

Looking at the depth chart at the wide receiver position, you will see that there are definitely some veteran faces in line to start in 2021. New quarterback Jack Coan is good at getting the ball into the right spots without turning it over, but he is going to need some wide receivers that he can trust heading into the Week 1 matchup against Florida State.

That is where the likes of Avery Davis, Kevin Austin Jr., and Braden Lenzy come in, as they are currently in line to be the starting three wideouts on this offense. In Davis, the Irish could have a budding superstar, as he came to campus as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country, and will now settle in as the slot guy in 2021.

Davis is a guy that many expect to have a breakout season in 2021, thanks to the fact he is finally settled in at the wide receiver position and has tremendous athleticism and speed. He is someone who can take the lid off a defense at any time, and playing the slot, will benefit from having an elite tight end on the field with him in Michael Mayer.
