The Notre Dame football team needs plenty of players to step up in a big way in 2021, and here are those who made honorable mention in our top-25.

As we did last summer, the Slap The Sign staff has compiled our list of the top 25 players that we believe will have the greatest impact on the Notre Dame football team this season. To start our rankings, we begin with those who just missed the cut, coming in as honorable mention players.

We are just over a month away from the start of the 2021 college football season, which means we are in the midst of “prediction and projection season.”

Earlier this month, I reached out to some current and former members of the Slap The Sign staff and asked them to rank the top 25 players who will have the greatest impact on the Irish in 2021. Those who participated submitted a ballot of 25 players ranked in order, and I then took the average ranking of each player and compiled the final list.

No two ballots had the exact same 25 players. Because of that, we ended up with four players that appeared on at least one ballot but fell outside of the top 25 in the final rankings. These four players make up our honorable mention list.

The four players in this year’s honorable mention group coincidentally all play on the defensive side of the ball, where the Irish will be led by new defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman.
