Notre Dame football: Which OT has the most to prove in 2021?

The Case for Blake Fisher

When it comes to the 2021 recruiting class, the biggest get was arguably Blake Fisher, who is coming in and starting at left tackle as a true freshman. According to 247Sports.com, Fisher was the highest-rated recruit for the Irish in this year’s class, coming in as the No. 1 player in the state of Indiana, and the No. 54-ranked player in the entire country.

It will not take Fisher long to get into the starting lineup, as he has been at left tackle since the spring, and Brian Kelly has confidence in him in Year 1. If he succeeds, the Irish are set at the position for the next three seasons, and that should lead to him being a first-round draft pick down the road.

For Fisher, he just needs to go out and prove that not only is he ready for the college game, but he is ready to be an anchor for this offensive line right out of the gate. Notre Dame football has some elite offensive guards in 2021, but as is the case with any level of football, left tackle is the most important when you have a right-handed signal-caller.
