Notre Dame football: Which OT has the most to prove in 2021?
Who has the most to prove?
Stepping for Hainsey at the right tackle position, at least to start, will be Josh Lugg, who is more than capable of being a huge piece of the puzzle for Notre Dame football in 2021. This is a kid who was once rated one of the top-15 offensive tackles in the country coming out of high school, and stands 6-foot-7, weighing 310 pounds.
That is more than enough size for him to push people around, and the hope is that with both he and Fisher at the tackle spots, that is a position they do not have to worry about. Remember, there was talk of Jarrett Patterson moving to tackle this offseason, and if one of them struggles, Rocco Spindler could step in at guard, and enable Patterson to move outside.
Lugg has to prove that will not be the case.
The offensive line is going to be one of the bigger question marks heading into summer practices, and Lugg has all eyes on him in 2021. The Irish have the talent to be one of the better offensive lines in the country, but it will all depend on how the five starters gel early and often, starting with the Florida State game in Week 1.
