Notre Dame football: 3 offensive players who must step up in 2021

No. 2: Braden Lenzy, Wide Receiver

The Notre Dame football team will be hitting the reset button at wide receiver once again in 2021 after both Javon McKinley and Ben Skowronek left for the NFL this offseason. Last year, those two players led the wide receiver group, and in 2021, it will have to be either a veteran or a true freshman who steps into that role.

Luckily for the Irish, they do have some veteran talent that could be up for the job, and that group is led by Braden Lenzy. A tremendous prospect coming out of high school, Lenzy has everything you look for in a potential breakout player in 2021, and the team desperately needs him to not only stay on the field but produce at a high level.

In terms of physical talent, Lenzy has what it takes, and it will be up to him to step up and assume that WR1 role for the upcoming season. Despite having an elite tight end, the Irish need to be able to attack teams on the outside, and a player like Lenzy, who can take the lid off the defense at any time, would be the perfect player to step into that role.
