Notre Dame Football 2021: Most Impactful Players, No. 15-11

No. 13: Kevin Austin, Wide Receiver

Kevin Austin has been one of the most-discussed Notre Dame football players over the past year. After missing the past two seasons due to a variety of circumstances, many Irish fans and beat reporters view him as a prime candidate to have a breakout season in 2021.

The wide receiver from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was the highest-rated offensive prospect in Notre Dame’s 2018 recruiting class. As a true freshman, Austin appeared in 11 games and recorded five catches and 90 receiving yards.

Austin was sidelined for the vast majority of the 2019 and 2020 seasons. After suffering a foot injury that required surgery last fall, he appears to be close to 100 percent entering Notre Dame’s summer practices.

There will undoubtedly be much more conversation and speculation about Austin as we approach the start of the 2021 season. If he performs well this year, he could earn some national recognition. I am certain that his fellow teammates, coaches, and Irish fans everywhere would love to see that happen.
