Notre Dame football: 3 defensive players who must step up in 2021

Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa

The Notre Dame football program saw both Daelin Hayes and Ade Ogundeji get drafted during the 2021 NFL Draft, leaving some gaping holes at defensive end. However, from what we have seen from Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa this spring, he looks ready to step in and be a menace coming off the edge for the Irish.

Tagovailoa-Amosa and Isaiah Foskey could end up being a dominant duo for the Irish in the pass rush, something that will be needed against some elite quarterbacks in Sam Howell, Kedon Slovis, and Desmond Ridder to name a few. Notre Dame football has the talent in the defensive backfield to make plays, and it will be up to MTA and Foskey to make the quarterback uncomfortable, and hopefully make crucial mistakes down the field.

As a group, this defense has all the talent at the three levels to be one of the best in the country, but these three guys are going to be key. We already know the Irish have elite talent in Hamilton, but these three players have the ability to take their games to the next level in 2021.
