The Notre Dame football program battles it out against Florida State in the season opener, and the Seminoles could end up being trouble for the Irish.

When the AP Poll was released on Monday, the Notre Dame football program saw itself in the top-10, landing at No. 9 overall. That is a good ranking for the 2021 Notre Dame football team to start with, as they have a lot to prove, and a tough schedule to prove it in.

The action starts in Week 1 when they travel down to Florida to take on the Florida State Seminoles. A program that has been down as of late, Florida State will be looking to get themselves back on the national map, and they will do so against a team that has been to two of the last three College Football Playoffs.

Recently, Tom Fornelli from CBS Sports put out a list of five possible ‘chaos teams,’ and the Seminoles were listed. Fornelli states that Florida State will have five chances to cause a ruckus in the standings, starting with Notre Dame in the team’s Week 1 matchup at home.

The truth is, if McKenzie Milton is healthy, and plays the way he did at UCF, then this Seminoles team has an elite quarterback under center. Florida State also has some solid talent on defense, and you have to believe that eventually, they will start winning more games.

Notre Dame football should take care of business in Tallahassee

With all that said, the Seminoles will likely not cause and ‘chaos’ against the Irish, who will be going into that matchup looking to prove that they still are one of the best teams in the country, despite the losses on the roster. Jack Coan has been named the starting quarterback, and he is solid under center, while the veteran-laden defense should cause problems for Florida State all game long.

Overall, this game is going to be tight early, but in the end, the Irish have way too much talent to go down to Tallahassee and start their season with a loss.

Despite all the changes within the roster and a new offensive line, the Irish are still considered a team to beat in college football. In this matchup, the Irish have more talent, and a better coaching staff, so the Seminoles will have to wait to cause ‘chaos’ later in the season.
