With the Notre Dame football program naming Jack Coan the starter for 2021, we look at the position group going forward.

By now, we all know that the starting quarterback for the Notre Dame football team heading into their first game against Florida State will be a graduate transfer, Jack Coan. A player with tremendous experience, as well as an outstanding leader, Coan will be expected to continue the winning ways in South Bend, after beating out some stiff competition this offseason.

Coan was not given the starting quarterback job this spring and summer, in fact, just last week, Drew Pyne was running the first-team offense at times. Pyne is a guy that the coaching staff is very high on, and if Coan goes down for some reason this season, they would be pretty confident with him being under center.

For now, this is Coan’s team, and with only one year with the Irish, he will be looking to help the team put together another double-digit win season. He has had major success before, leading the Wisconsin Badgers to a Big Ten title game, and a Rose Bowl, and hopefully, that success can translate with the Irish.

With the 2021 quarterback situation pretty much set, we turn our attention to what the future looks like at the most important position in sports.
