Notre Dame football: Offensive star to worry about on each 2021 opponent

Game No. 10: Virginia, TE Jelani Woods

The University of Virginia is a program that values its tight ends, and for the 2021 college football season, they are certainly going to have a good one. Jelani Woods was a two-time All-Big 12 honorable mention player for Oklahoma State, before transferring for the 2021 campaign as a graduate transfer with the Cavaliers.

With Virginia, Woods figures to play a major role in the offense, whether it is through the air in the passing game, or on the ground. At Oklahoma State, he paved the way for star running back Chubba Hubbard, and the Cavaliers are hoping he can do the same thing for their running backs in his only season with the program.

Standing 6-foot-7, Woods is a menacing figure, and he is quite the athlete, having been a quarterback in high school before becoming a tight end at the D1 level. There is not a lot to like about this Cavaliers offense, as the Irish defense should dominate in this one, but Woods is a player who is going to have an impact one way or another.
