Notre Dame football: Offensive star to worry about on each 2021 opponent

Game No. 11: Georgia Tech, RB Jahmyr Gibbs

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are a team that the Irish should beat pretty easily, but to do so, they are going to have to stop a playmaker in Jahmyr Gibbs. Playing as a true freshman last season, Gibbs proved himself to be an incredible contributor to this offense, racking up nearly 1,000 all-purpose yards for the team.

Named a second-team Freshman All-American by the Athletic, Gibbs not only can get the job done as a running back, but he also proved to be an elite kick returner last season. All told, he finished the season with over 25 yards per kickoff return, so the Irish may be better off kicking it away from him if they get the chance.

A four-star prospect coming out of high school, Gibbs was rated the No. 2 all-purpose back in the country, and he will lead a deep running back group for Georgia Tech this season. While the talent is a bit lopsided in this one, if Gibbs gets it going, the Yellow Jackets should be able to eat clock, which is the only way they can beat Notre Dame.
