Notre Dame football: Offensive star to worry about on each 2021 opponent

Game No. 1: Florida State, QB McKenzie Milton

The Notre Dame football team will kick off their 2021 college football season against Florida State on the road, taking on a Seminoles team still on the rebound. It has been some time since the Seminoles were close to the national power they used to be, and they are hoping that new starting quarterback McKenzie Milton can get them over the hump.

Before shattering his knee as the starter for the University of Central Florida, Milton was one of the best quarterbacks in college football. He was a two-time AAC Offensive Player of the Year and led his team to a ton of victories, including an MVP effort in a win against the Auburn Tigers in the 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

If healthy, Milton is going to be a tough first task for this Irish defense, one that is losing their leader at the linebacker spot in All-American Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Milton will be pushed by Jordan Travis this summer for the starting job, but if he is back to close to 100 percent, you have to believe he will not only be the starter but will help the rebuild at Florida State in a big way.
