Notre Dame football: Offensive star to worry about on each 2021 opponent

Game No. 2: Toledo, RB Bryant Koback

In Game No. 2, the Irish will take on the Toledo Rockets in a game that should be an easy victory at home for the Notre Dame football team. While Toledo may be a formidable opponent for the rest of the MAC, they will be no opponent for the Irish at home, especially in the first game played in front of the fans since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking at the Rockets on the offensive side of the ball, you have to be wary of their running back, who was named a team captain for the 2020 season, and returns for his third season as the feature back. Koback rushed for over 500 yards in a shortened pandemic season in 2020, and across his career, he has over 2,600 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Koback is an All-MAC preseason selection, and is on the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, so he is getting some conference, as well as national attention. There is no doubt that the Toledo offense will try to run through Koback, and bleed the clock, so the Irish defense needs to make sure they have to focus on him at all times because he can hurt you in many ways.
