Notre Dame football: Offensive star to worry about on each 2021 opponent

Game No. 5: Cincinnati QB, Desmond Ridder

One of the bigger games of the schedule comes in Game No. 5, as the Cincinnati Bearcats head to Notre Dame Stadium to take on the Irish. Many like the Bearcats to be one of the top-10 teams in the country this season, and they certainly have the right guy under center, as Desmond Ridder is a potential first-round pick.

This game is obviously huge for Marcus Freeman and Brian Kelly, two men who coached at the school and led the university to plenty of victories. Freeman, the new defensive coordinator in South Bend, will have to bring his best game plan, and luckily for the Irish, he knows all about this Bearcats offense.

Ridder is an outstanding talent, who won the AAC Offensive Player of the Year honor in 2020 and has a 57-20 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his career. He can get the job done with his arm, and his legs, as he posted over 1,800 yards to go along with his 12 rushing touchdowns last season.

This will be a major test for the Irish defense.
