With the 2021 college football season kicking off for the Notre Dame football team on September 5, we take a look at some growing concerns.

The Notre Dame football program will kick off their 2021 schedule in a few weeks, as they travel to Tallahassee to take on the Florida State Seminoles. The Irish are coming off an undefeated regular season, including a win against No. 1 Clemson, but their season ended on a down note, losing in both the ACC title game and the Rose Bowl during the College Football Playoff.

As we turn the calendar to a new college football season, the 2020 season is in the past, and it is time for the Irish to get down to playing games that count once again. With that said, some unanswered questions remain.

Will the new-look offensive line gel in time for Week 1?

Last season, the Notre Dame football program had an elite offensive line, one that was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, and sent four starters to the NFL. In 2021, there is a lot of question marks, including a true freshman at left tackle, and new starters up and down the line outside of center Jarrett Patterson.

In terms of talent, the Irish have a ton of it along the offensive line, as they have solid starters and depth coming off the bench. The problem is, Patterson is back at center after being at guard most of the summer, and there are a bunch of brand new starters, so the hope is that they will be able to gel in time for the Week 1 matchup against Florida State.
