Notre Dame football: 3 growing concerns coming out of fall camp 2021

Who is going to emerge as the WR1 for the Irish?

Looking at the wide receiver group, there is a lot to like about it, as the hope is the star-studded 2018 class can step into major roles in 2021. Last season, Javon McKinley and Ben Skowronek led the way on the outside, but with both of them in the NFL now, the question is which player will become the true WR1 this season.

There are a lot of players to choose from, including Braden Lenzy, Kevin Austin, Avery Davis, and Lawrence Keys, all veteran guys who have yet to reach their potential. With Jack Coan under center, the Irish are going to need at least two of these vets to have breakout seasons, as it will open up the middle of the field for Michael Mayer, and the run game.

The concern right now is that most of the media are undecided as to who this player will be, which is not what you want when you are a little over two weeks away from game No. 1. The talent is there, and the position group is deep, but nobody emerging as of yet, or at least no clear No. 1 is not ideal this late in August.
