Notre Dame football: What we know coming out of 2021 fall camp

Cain Madden was a crucial addition to the offensive line

The Notre Dame football team had an elite offensive line last season, as they were finalists for the Joe Moore Award. When it came time for the 2021 NFL Draft, both Liam Eichenberg and Aaron Banks went in the second round, with Robert Hainsey going to the defending Super Bowl champs in the fourth.

As an undrafted free agent, Tommy Kraemer latched on with the Detroit Lions as well, meaning the team saw four starters enter the NFL. That would normally be devastating for a program, but this is Notre Dame football, where it appears the Irish produce elite NFL talent up front along the offensive line every season.

That should be the case again in 2021, and a lot of that has to do with the arrival of Cain Madden, a second-team All-American for Marshall last season. Madden will slide in as one of the starting guards, and he is already been named a preseason All-American, and his arrival allows the Irish to balance out the offensive line, and possibly have two All-Americans with he and Jarrett Patterson on the inside.
