Notre Dame football: 4 most underrated Irish players in 2021
Jack Coan
During his time at Wisconsin, Jack Coan developed a reputation of being a clutch player under center, helping the Badgers to a Big Ten title game. Sure, he had the luxury of having Johnathan Taylor in the backfield, but he also did a tremendous job taking care of the ball, throwing 18 touchdowns against only five interceptions.
Since arriving at Notre Dame as a graduate transfer, Coan has had to battle it out with Drew Pyne and Tyler Buchner for the starting job, a position he was awarded this past week. Now that he has earned the position, there is a lot to be exciting about in terms of the way he plays the game, and he has already proven to be a leader in the locker room.
The problem is, when you look at most rankings of the college quarterbacks, he is nowhere to be seen when it comes to the top-20 to 25 signal-callers. At the helm of this Notre Dame offense, I believe Coan is going to have his best season at the collegiate level, and when all is said and done, he is going to be a big reason this team wins more games than expected.
