Notre Dame football: 4 FSU Seminoles who must be stopped in Game No. 1

Amari Gainer, LB

Staying on the defensive side of the ball, the Seminoles have some talent at the linebacker spot, led by Amari Gainer. Moving from their STUD linebacker to the Will, Gainer is going to be able to utilize his skillset more, and the Seminoles will be moving him all around the defense during the Notre Dame game.

Gainer is a hard-hitting linebacker, one who this defense is going to be built around, and rightfully so, as he has had a nice start to his career with the Seminoles. He led Florida State in tackles last season and is a premier edge rusher, so offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is going to know where he is at all times, as he is that disruptive.

There are certainly playmakers on that side of the ball that the Irish will need to stop, and you can be sure that the running backs are going to have to get a hat on him, as they will blitz Gainer often. A former four-star recruit, Gainer has been named to the Bednarik, Lombardi, and Butkus Watch Lists to start the 2021 season, and within a very young linebacker group, he is the unquestioned leader.
