Notre Dame football: 3 reasons for optimism coming out of 2021 fall camp

Two-headed monster at running back

Having a good running back is crucial at the collegiate level, as quarterbacks can also struggle with different coverages, and against a great pass rush. However, for the Irish, they have two good running backs, with Kyren Williams having All-American potential and Chris Tyree having the talent to break one off every time he gets the ball.

That is going to be the difference in some of these big games on the schedule, especially because the Irish play some of the best quarterbacks in the country this season. Having the ability to keep the likes of Desmond Ridder, Kedon Slovis, and Sam Howell off the field could end up being the difference against some of the top-25 teams on their schedule.

The duo of Williams and Tyree are not only going to offer some big-play ability in 2021, bringing the fans to their feet, but they also will enable the Irish to eat clock when need be. Both men will be counted on in a big way this fall, and teams will certainly have to game plan against both of them.
