Georgia Tech in 2020

Georgia Tech’s 2020 season started with more hope than anyone expected, as they beat Florida State 16-13 in Tallahassee. In the process, they found their quarterback, Jeff Sims. The three-time ACC Rookie of the Week showed off his dual-threat ability, but it quickly became clear there were still issues at Georgia Tech.

For one, Florida State was still bad and Georgia Tech quickly got blown out by UCF and a terrible Syracuse team.

Still, the Yellow Jackets won a couple of games that they would have struggled in a year prior, and over the course of the season, they managed to win two more games. By the end of the year, Georgia Tech was playing close games with other ACC teams.

At the same time, how much credit or critique did any team earn last season? COVID-19 made the season difficult to navigate. By the end of the season, a lot of teams were just trying to get through the season. So, there is hope to build on at Georgia Tech, but shouldn’t that be taken with a grain of salt?
