The Notre Dame football team opens up their 2021 regular season against Florida State, and here are five bold predictions for the matchup.

It’s finally game week for Notre Dame football, which takes on Florida State in Tallahassee on Sunday night. If we can learn anything from the Week 0 games, it’s that you don’t try to catch a punt on your own goal line (thanks Nebraska) and that in college football anything can happen to open the season.

After all, these are kids playing a game.

They’re usually rusty at this point, and most teams are trying to change their culture or answer questions that they’ve been working on all offseason. This makes it the best week for some bold predictions.

So, here are five bold predictions for Notre Dame’s opening game for the 2021 season.

It’s worth pointing out that all of these are from the Notre Dame football perspective. In other words, these aren’t bold predictions for Florida State. That means it’s about whether Kyren Williams can run for 100 yards, and not Florida State will give up 100 yards. Pretty simple.

Now, what qualifies as bold is another story. Saying, “Notre Dame will win a game they’re favored to win” isn’t bold, or “Kyle Hamilton will be great” is a bit simplistic. Instead, it’s about finding players or units that could potentially do something surprising in the game. It also leaves room to be wrong in hindsight. So, please, show some mercy.
