The Notre Dame football team opens up their 2021 regular-season slate against Florida State, and here are three things to watch for.

We are officially only days away from the Notre Dame football team opening up their 2021 regular season, as they take on the Florida State Seminoles in primetime. The Irish have had a very active offseason, replacing their defensive coordinator, and losing 14 players to the NFL, but they have reloaded, and are looking forward to another successful season.

To be successful, they have to get that first win out of the way, and against Florida State, there are plenty of things to keep an eye on for that to happen.

No. 3: How the offensive line gels in Week 1

One of the bigger storylines this offseason was the fact that four starters from the 2020 Notre Dame offensive line had made their way to the next level. Whether as draft picks, or as an undrafted free agent, Liam Eichenberg, Aaron Banks, Robert Hainsey, and Tommy Kraemer are all gone and have been replaced by some talented players in their own right.

The center, Jarrett Patterson, is the only starter from last year who returns, and the 2020 unit was one of the best in football. On Sunday night, the new unit, with Blake Fisher, a true freshman at left tackle, an All-American transfer at guard in Cain Madden, and veterans Zeke Correll and Josh Lugg will look to fill some pretty big shoes.

If they can dominate the trenches, and start to gel, they have the talent to be just as special in 2021.
