Florida State vs. Notre Dame Football: Game preview and prediction in Week 1

Preview

The Irish come into this game with plenty of changes on both sides of the ball, but there are also some elite players returning. Running back Kyren Williams has All-American written all over him, as does tight end Michael Mayer, so new quarterback Jack Coan has a lot to work with on that side of the ball.

Notre Dame will be going up against a Florida State defense with some playmakers of their own, as Jermaine Johnson II is a legitimate pass rusher, and Amari Gainer is an absolute monster at linebacker. The Seminoles are not lacking in talent, so it will be a test for the new-look offensive line right out of the gate.

On defense, Notre Dame is going to have to deal with a two-headed monster at running back for the Seminoles in Jashaun Corbin and Lawrance Toafili, two guys who can get it done on the ground, and through the air. FSU has yet to name a quarterback, but whoever is under center will have to deal with a strong pass rush from an elite defensive line, and the best safety in the country in Kyle Hamilton.
