Notre Dame football: 5 reasons the Irish will beat Florida State

Irish have the better coaching staff

Sometimes, games just come down to who has the better coaching staff, and in this matchup, it is the Irish who go into the game with elite coaches on the sidelines. Sure, Mike Norvell is a solid coach and should be able to turn this program around, but in this one, he is going to be outcoached once again by Brian Kelly.

Also, we will be seeing the first game for new defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, who came to the Irish with a ton of expectations and has exceeded them so far. He is going to have an excellent game plan against a Seminoles offense that has a lot of question marks, so you can expect the defense to come out very aggressive, putting the pressure on Florida State early in front of their home fans.

All told, this is primed to be an exciting opening game for the Irish, and beating Florida State absolutely never gets old. With Freeman as defensive coordinator, you can expect this group to be one of the best in the country once again, and in his second season as the offensive coordinator, I expect Tommy Rees to take a big step forward.
