Notre Dame football: FSU’s McKenzie Milton is worth rooting for

Milton’s story is not finished

It’s impossible to put into words what KZ means to the UCF community. At a school that has produced and will continue to produce great quarterbacks like Daunte Culpepper, Blake Bortles, and Dillon Gabriel, Milton will always be the favorite son. He was the face of UCF modernizing its program from the days of George O’Leary.

He was an artist on the field who could do anything in the world. A magician who’d punch you in the mouth. National Championship (not up for debate. Check the record books), 25 wins in a row, and another New Year’s Six win. KZ was everything UCF football aspired to be.

Milton could trick an entire defense into going the wrong way, slip from a 300lb lineman’s arms, tiptoe the sideline, sidearm bullets, and pick a spot for his deep shots. Now, Milton is listed as an either-or to start at quarterback with Jordan Travis on Florida State’s depth chart. That alone is magic after his injury.

The thing is, I fully expect Milton to play and for it to be just like old times. Sure the uniform is going to be different, and that’ll be strange at first, but he’ll be the same old KZ. He’ll be deking linebackers, making corners look silly, and doing things you didn’t think were possible from a 5ft 11in quarterback.

I’ll always root for McKenzie Milton ahead of anyone else. #10hana.
